How to Lose Weight Quickly by Working Out

With obesity rates soaring, weight loss is a common goal in modern society -- a goal that no doubt includes exercise. Along with dieting, working out is an essential part of any weight loss plan, no matter how big or small. So whether you're trying to drop a few holiday pounds or jump-start a major weight loss, working out on a consistent basis will help you start shedding pounds toward a slimmer waistline.

    Identify your weight loss goal. Determining how much weight you'd like to lose will give you something specific to work toward and make it easier to chart your progress.

    Choose exercise activities. Select workouts that you enjoy and can complete on a regular basis. Be sure to include a variety of activities to avoid boredom and keep you motivated.

    Develop a workout regimen. Plan which exercises you will complete each day, week and month and set aside time on your calendar to devote to your workouts.

    Work out! Follow your exercise plan as closely as possible, increasing the duration and intensity as your stamina increases.

    Chart your weight loss progress. Weigh yourself once per week, preferably when you wake up, before eating anything, and record your results in a notebook or journal. Keeping track of your progress will keep you motivated toward achieving your goal.
