How to Eat a Healthy No Carb Diet

While carbohydrates such as pasta, breads, cakes and rice are delicious to eat, an overconsumption of these foods is troublesome for healthy weight control. If you want to take a break from eating carbs for health reasons, there are ways to do this. Some good resources for finding carb-free recipes are magazines such as SELF, Prevention Magazine, Cooking Light Magazine and Food Network Magazine. You can also get help from your nutritionist or trainer if you have a gym club membership.

    Substitute beans for dishes with rice and pastas. For example, if you love hearty pasta dishes with tomato sauce, prepare a chili with red kidney beans and eat this with a lettuce and tomato salad. Or if you enjoy pasta salad with cooked cubed chicken, substitute a can of cannellini beans for the pasta and add some diced tomatoes, one chopped red onion, salt, black pepper and a few teaspoons of olive oil. Mix it thoroughly and refrigerate until ready to serve.

    Increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables. Instead of eating a large slice of chocolate cake with icing, substitute this with a bowl of fruit salad with a few drizzles of honey. Or if you're looking for a way to have vegetables as a main dish, prepare a chicken and vegetable soup with vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, squash, garlic, onions and celery as well as your favorite spices.

    Substitute flavored water for soft drinks and sugary fruit juices. If you have some citrus fruits at home such as lemons and oranges, take two of these fruits and squeeze the juice into a medium pitcher. Add a teaspoon of honey and some crushed mint leaves to the juice mixture along with four cups of water. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
