Most diet plans are designed for rapid weight loss in the beginning, so it should be relatively easy to lose 10 lbs. following any of these plans. Some diet plans, however, are healthier than others. Choose one that allows enough calories for your body to function properly.

    Thoroughly read through the plan until you have a clear idea of how it works. This will help you incorporate the diet into your lifestyle. If you want to use a face-to-face program, such as Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig, find out everything you need to know to get started, for example, how many calories you should eat, how you will obtain your food and what happens if there is a glitch.

    Plan meals accordingly. For instance, the Abs Diet has 12 "superfoods" that are key for success, so you must have all those foods on hand before getting started. As you go over the plan, make sure the recipes meet your cooking skills, that you aren't allergic to the required foods and that you can afford all the foods on the list. You also should be able to make substitutions if there are foods that you don't like or that aren't available at your grocery store. Even if you are choosing a diet plan with a meal delivery program, make sure you have enough for breakfast, lunch, dinner and for the appropriate number of snacks.

    Make time for recommended workouts. Any good diet plan is enhanced by exercise. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends at least two hours and 30 minutes of cardio exercise per week and two or more days of strength training. Most diet plans recommend some sort of complementary exercise program. Follow the exercise recommendations for optimum results.
