Workouts at Home to Lose Weight Fast

Many people have no time to get to the gym, so they need to create a simple workout at home. Creating something that is fun and easy to do, and burns calories, is not difficult, as long as a few tips are kept in mind.

Gauge Your Fitness Level

    In order to determine how to lose weight fast, you must first determine your weight-loss goal; how much you can afford to lose safely; and how hard your workout must be. On the average, a safe weight loss is up to 2 lbs. a week. There are charts available online to help you figure out the intensity of your workout; see the Resources section for suggestions. Remember, the idea is to push your body without overdoing it. If you find yourself becoming exhausted before your workout is over, don't feel bad; lower the intensity or start cooling down. The very fact that you've recognized your limits will enable you to work out even longer the next time.

Go Media Mad

    The simplest way to burn calories is through cardio, and you can use websites like YouTube to find workout videos (see the Resources section). Following along with three 10-minute videos is the same as 30 minutes of cardio--an excellent start. You can find workout videos just about anywhere--in the mall, at an outlet, or even at your local thrift store. If you do a little detective work, you may stumble across a copy of the Jane Fonda workout, or other classic yet effective routines. Feel the burn!

Look Around!

    For strength training, you can use a chair for squats, bags of flour for weight lifts, and your own body weight for pushups and situps. if you quickly get bored of the same routine, get back on the internet. If you have children, get them in on the action. Lie on your back and bench press your 2-year-old for 10 reps. Then, flip onto your stomach, have your child sit on your calves and do a series of light leg lifts. With older children, go to the park and play a round of two-square or softball with them. They will love the attention, and you will love the workout.
