Weight Loss Workout Plans for Men

Losing weight for men is not a complicated process. However, it is not easy. In order for men to lose significant weight, they must attack the situation with a three-pronged attack. They must do cardio exercises, strength training and make significant dietary changes.

Cardio training

A cardiovascular workout helps you lose weight by getting your heart rate up so you burn more calories and increase your metabolism. One of the best things to do to increase your heart rate is interval sprinting. Sprinting burns more calories than distance running. Go to the high school or college track in your community. Measure off distances of 100 yards, 80 yards, 60 yards and 40 yards. Sprint 100 yards and then go to the line and start your 80-yard sprint as quickly as possible. Do the same at 60 and 40 yards. Take a one-minute break, and then repeat the sprint sequence. Do at least one more sprint interval (two sets) before the end of your workout on the track. Try to do this at least four times per week.

Strength training

Getting stronger will help cut the fat off your body and help you become healthier. It will help you build explosive muscle, and that will cause you to burn more calories over a longer period of time. Lifting weights three times per week will help your lose fat and gain muscle. Some of the top weightlifting exercises include the bench press, arm curls, squats, deadlifts and leg presses. If you do not have free weights, you can do this by doing complete circuit training on a Nautilus system. The Nautilus system will help you gain strength from your shoulders down to your lower legs.

Dietary changes

When a man is doing cardio exercises and strength training, nothing will get his weight-loss program into overdrive better than complementing those activities with dietary changes. Eat more white-meat chicken and fish. Limit easting red meat to one portion per week. Eat at least two portions of fresh vegetables and one of fresh fruit per day. Get rid of sugared and carbonated beverages. Stop eating fast foods and junk foods. Limit your alcohol to one glass of wine or one glass of beer per week. Drink at least six eight-ounce glasses of water per day. Men tend to put on weight in the stomach area and on top of the hips, and this diet will help get rid of some of that excess weight.
