How to Cater to Special Diets

How to Cater to Special Diets

It can be difficult to cater to special dietary needs. However, by providing natural foods, you can accommodate different diet types at once. Organic nuts, fruits and vegetables are friendly to gluten-free, organic, vegan, vegetarian and low-fat diets. Include two to three meat entrees to supplement the vegetables and nuts so that you have a healthy assortment of dishes for diabetic and low-carbohydrate eaters as well. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

    1

Serve vegetables fresh (raw) or steam them with water. Vegetables are naturally gluten-free and low-fat. Do not cook them in oils or fry them in flours or other products because doing so can compromise their purity. Add dressing or dipping sauces on the side for those eaters without special needs, but identify all side items with a label of ingredients.

    2

Offer a variety of nuts. Serve organic nuts that are not processed, because these will accommodate gluten-free and organic diets. Serve nuts with seasoning, salt and other spices. These items will provide a tasty treat for low-carbohydrate dieters. Nuts are a healthy snack for diabetics as well. Peanuts, cashews, walnuts and almonds are good sources of protein and healthy fats.

    3

Natural fruits, like vegetables, are low-fat. Buy organic fruits that have not been treated with chemicals. Serve raw fruits such as apples, bananas, grapes and cantaloupe. Serve dried fruits, but be mindful of the gluten and sugars that are added to these fruits when processed. Mark all dishes with labels of ingredients.

    4

Prepare two to three bread products that do not include wheat, rye or barley. These grains are off-limits for gluten-free eaters. Bake two to three items from almond flour, amaranth, arrowroot, bean flour, flaxseed, potato flour or soy flour, as these are healthy ingredients for gluten-free baking. Do not add butter if you want your bread dish to also accommodate gluten-free, low-fat, vegetarian and certain low-carbohydrate diets.

    5

Include two to three high-protein meat dishes for low-carbohydrate dieters. Do not fry or bread poultry with flour that contains gluten. That way, diabetics, gluten-free and low-fat dieters can also enjoy meat dishes. Prepare various kinds of meat dishes and include label ingredients so that dieters can distinguish which prepared meats are safe to consume.
