Natural Yeast Infection Cures for Men

Natural Yeast Infection Cures for Men

An overproduction of candida albicans in the large intestine is the culprit of most yeast infections in men. This can be brought on by the overuse of antibiotics, poor diet, food allergies and the use of corticosteroids. Symptoms can include inflammation of the penis glans, itching in the anus, painful urination, unusual discharge, mouth thrush and gastritis. There also are times when men can get a yeast infection from sexual contact. Whatever the case, the best natural treatment for a yeast infection is a combination of proper diet, supplements and herbs.

Diet

If your yeast infection is systemic in nature (and not from sexual contact), you should go on a gluten-free diet. This will ensure that the yeast does not continue to reproduce in your large intestine. The problem is that most commercial foods like breads, pastas, pastries, milk, beer and most snacks contain glutens. There are two basic approaches to diet: You can either eat more foods like meats, yams, potatoes and rice in lieu of pasta and bread, or substitute your bread and pasta with gluten-free products such as brown rice pasta and spelt bread.

Other gluten-free foods include millet, quinoa, amaranth, barley, basmati rice, beans, and all vegetables. Corn and oats have low levels of glutens. Your systemic yeast will clear up much more quickly if you start eating these foods for a couple of weeks instead of wheat products.

Vegetables have natural enzymes that can help fight yeast. Make sure you eat plenty of fresh vegetables such as lettuce, cucumbers, carrots and radishes.

Probiotics and Enzymes

Probiotics are recommended for men with yeast infections. These will help fight the overgrowth of candida in the system by replenishing your system with good bacteria. You can buy probiotics at just about any grocery, drug or health-food store. If you are on a strict budget, try eating yogurt along with your gluten-free diet.

Digestive enzymes can also be used effectively to treat a yeast infection.

Herbs, Supplements, Spices and Food Ointments

While you are taking a systemic approach to your yeast infection, you may need temporary relief of your symptoms. If you have anal or penile itching, try using corn starch. Corn starch will relieve your symptoms but won't cure them. Aloe vera also helps itching. Yogurt also works well and can actually help heal any rash or infection. Tea tree oil is another remedy.

Other substances that you can to eliminate a systemic yeast infection include garlic, cayenne pepper, grapefruit seed extract, cat's claw, virgin coconut oil and oregano. You can add one or more to your diet to help fight the yeast infection. Virgin coconut oil and oregano canbe taken orally; and they can also be used to lubricate the infected area.
